MIT researchers working in the new field of “connectomics” are
attempting to create a comprehensive map of the human brain’s
connections — the first step toward creating an artificial brain to
which we can upload memories.
OpenWorm is an open source project seeking
to create the world's first “organism in a
computer.” Scientists and programmers were
able to create software modeled on the
neurons of a worm's nervous system and use
it to independently control a Lego robot.
