• 2004 to 2014 – Student enrolment increased by 70% (1.2million)
- Quantity vs Quality, are the students really competent?
• Huge number of students per classroom (100?)
• Assessment by 8 generic skills
– social, communication, ethics, problem solving, entrepreneurship,
lifelong learning
• Lecturers workload – Administration, Research, Consultancy,
Awards, Community?

To achieve MOD BLENDED, at least 30% of F2F delivery is ONLINE.
e.g. Total F2F hours is 42 for 3 credit course. 30% of 42 hours is 13 hours or 4 weeks.

(THE CHALLENGES)
• Lecturers don’t create any learning activities
• Lecturers don’t monitor/participate in the learning
activities (no feedback / response on student’s
discussion)
• Student does not learn / participate
27. BLENDED LEARNING
(GOOD PRACTICES)
• GUIDED LEARNING (ONLINE) – learning activity is done online, no
need to go onsite/face to face. Can be done up to 10 weeks.
• 1 information, 7 resources, 3 activities, 2 assessment may not be
adequate for an effective learning.
• Must have CONTENT + ACTIVITY + ASSESSMENT for each ONLINE
class
• Attendance must be reported based on student’s engagement
• Should have F2F attendance proof for at least 4 weeks (for 3 credit).

28. OFFICIAL E-LEARNING PLATFORM LMS
Learning Management System
E-Learning can be done in many platforms such as facebook, padlet, blog, etc. However, to ease monitoring and reporting of Blended Learning implementation, it is a advisable for us
to use official University e-learning platform.
