Foundation 1. Get Crystal Clear On What You
Want and Why
• So, you want to sell more books? Why exactly?
• Is it because you want more income?
• Is it because you want to become a bestselling author?
• Is it because you want to talk about your book on Oprah?
• Is it because you have a message you just want to share with
the world?
• More clarity = more focus = more sales.
Foundation 2. Focus on Your One Best Target
Audience
• Find your perfect customers and focus on reaching them.
• You might have several groups of potential customers. Don’t
focus on them all. Focus on the one group that is most perfect
for you and one your message to them.
• Where do they hang out online?
• Where do they spend their time?
• How can you reach them and connect with them?
Foundation 3. Find Out What They Want
• What does your perfect customer want exactly?
• How do they say it? Use their own words to connect on a
deeper level.
• Use surveys. Browse reviews on similar books and products
on Amazon.com to see their language, thoughts and needs.
• Spend more time with your ideal clients and learn as much as
you can about them, what they want, and what they don’t
want.
Foundation 4. Give Them What They Want
Again and Again
• Create as many helpful books, products and services as you
can for your customers.
• Solve their biggest problem first. Then move on to the 2nd
biggest problem and repeat.
• Don't stop at one product or problem. The more you help
your perfect customer, the more you will earn.
Foundation 5. Focus On Adding Value, Not
Selling
• Don't just try to sell to your customers. Focus on helping them
• The more you help them, the more they will buy.
• Create educational videos, blog posts and resources for free
(like this slide show!)
• Instead of asking, “How can I earn more money or sell more?”
Ask, “How can I add more value to more people?”
Foundation 6. Keep Doing What Works
• When you find a marketing strategy that works well, keep
doing it!
• Stop doing what doesn't work.
• 20% of your marketing will produce 80% of your results. Focus
on the 20%
• Measure your marketing as much as possible. Use tracking
links and analytics to see what works and what doesn’t work.
• Most multi-million dollar companies focus on a half dozen
major marketing strategies. Test many; only use the best.
