There's a recording of this talk at Agile 2012 here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v-L_2y6g5DI Creating automated end-to-end functional acceptance tests is hard. Maintaining them over time is harder. Some agilistas even claim that the cost outweighs the benefit. In this lecture we present five principles for creating valuable, maintainable acceptance test suites. We discuss practices such as layering acceptance tests to reduce coupling between the test harness, and talk about how teams should be organized in order to efficiently manage acceptance test driven development. The core of the talk discusses how to manage the evolution of acceptance tests by organizing them as scenarios rather than as suites of story tests. Finally we show how to manage data for acceptance tests.

A database trigger is a stored procedure that is executed when specific actions occur within a database. Triggers fit perfectly on a relational schema (foreign keys) and are implemented as a built-in functionality on popular relational database like MySQL. MongoDB does not have any support for triggers, mainly due to the lack of support for foreign keys. Even if it usually considered an antipattern, there are use cases in MongoDB that benefit from a partially-relational schema. The lack of triggers is an obstacle for a partially-relational schema but there can be workarounds for simulating trigger behavior. This presentation will guide you through different ways to implement triggers in MongoDB. We will cover the topics streams, tailable cursors, and hooks. We will demonstrate coding examples for each topic and we will explain pros and cons of each implementation.

As time goes on operating systems keep evolving, like Microsoft Windows do, it ships new designs, features and codes from time to time. However sometimes it also ships more than bit of codes for complex subsystems residing in its kernel ... and at some future point it starts implementing new designs to prevent unnecessary access to it. However is it safe enough? As we can see from security bulletins, win32k subsystem attracts lots of attention. It looks that with efforts of many security researchers who has dug into this area, finding bugs here shall becomes pretty tough and almost fruitless. But unfortunately this is not true, as win32k is backed up by very complex logic and large amount of code by nature.. We will present our point of view to Windows graphic subsystem, as well as schema of our fuzzing strategies. We will introduce some unusual areas of win32k, its extensions and how it can breaks even locked environments. Part of our talk will be dedicated to CVE-2016-0176, the bug we used for this year's Pwn2Own Edge sandbox bypass, from its discovery to its exploitation techniques, which could serves as an example for universal DirectX escape which is independent of graphics vendors.

Scaling API-first – The story of a global engineering organization

Created by Mozilla Research in 2012 and now part of Linux Foundation Europe, the Servo project is an experimental rendering engine written in Rust. It combines memory safety and concurrency to create an independent, modular, and embeddable rendering engine that adheres to web standards. Stewardship of Servo moved from Mozilla Research to the Linux Foundation in 2020, where its mission remains unchanged. After some slow years, in 2023 there has been renewed activity on the project, with a roadmap now focused on improving the engine’s CSS 2 conformance, exploring Android support, and making Servo a practical embeddable rendering engine. In this presentation, Rakhi Sharma reviews the status of the project, our recent developments in 2023, our collaboration with Tauri to make Servo an easy-to-use embeddable rendering engine, and our plans for the future to make Servo an alternative web rendering engine for the embedded devices industry.
