11. Facts and FAQ’s about In Motion Displays ™ Digital Media Player Can we change the ad on the riser card? Yes we recommend changing the riser card when loading new content. Consumers are receptive to new advertising content. Is the IMD unit always playing? The IMD unit is always off and only plays when the patented motion detector senses a consumer within 6 feet of the unit. The IMD unit turns on and plays the teaser message, which will prompt the consumer to push one of the buttons. The unit then shuts down and waits for the next passer-by. How long do the batteries last? Two D size batteries are required to operate the 3.6” unit. They will last for about 40 hours of playing time. If you have 30 seconds of content it will play about 5000 times before needing new batteries. This equates to about 160 times per day. Where do I get the batteries? The Alison Group will provide one set of batteries with each unit. Additional batteries are available for $1.35 per set of D batteries. What do we do at the end of the advertising period? You can download new content to the IMD unit for another brand and continue increasing sales. Or, you can have your distributor remove the unit from the store and return to us in the provided postage paid box. What if we can’t get our distributors to return the unit? Don’t worry, The Alison Group can arrange to have the IMD units picked up for an additional charge of $25 per unit. Where can I see a digital media player at retail? Currently there are 90,000 digital media players (our first version) under the brand name Smart Source™ in grocery and drug stores in the US and Canada. Does digital media at point-of-sale increase sales? Yes. Brands across many categories have experienced double digit sales increases with the use of our digital media player. What sizes does the IMD video player come in? Our technology comes in 2 sizes; 3.6”and 7” screen sizes How much content can the IMD video hold? Up to 60 seconds of content. This can be broken up any way. The best success has come from using a 3 to 5 second teaser ad followed by a prompt to encourage the consumer to press one of the buttons for more information, offers and/or entertainment. How is creative content loaded on the IMD unit and/or SD card? The content can be sent to The Alison Group via CD or DVD. The final video ad will be converted to a proprietary format, which is compatible with the IMD unit. Initial units are shipped with content pre-loaded and additional content will be loaded onto an SD card. What if we want to change the content or message during the advertising period? You can simply send us new content and we will load the content onto an SD card and send the card(s) to you within 2 weeks. You then upload the new content onto the IMD unit via the SD card. How loud does the audio play? The IMD unit has a patented automatic gain control (AGC), which measures the ambient noise level at retail and plays back at the appropriate volume. How is the IMD unit installed? The IMD unit can be installed via our patented shelf clip, C clamp or our suction cup cooler door application. The IMD unit can only be removed by using the special tool provided. Can the IMD unit be a part of a temporary or permanent display? Yes. The IMD unit is perfect for display opportunities and can be used over and over to help all your brands in other parts of the store. Does the IMD unit track activations? Yes. The IMD unit has tracking capabilities that are easy to use. The IMD unit can tell you how many times it was activated by motion and how many times the buttons were pushed. What is the minimum test order? 50 units for 90 days is our minimum order for initial testing. How much does the IMD unit cost? The cost is $1 to $2 per unit per day depending on quantity of units and days you advertise.
