Since I was diagnosed with
Fibromyalgia in 2009, I took
only one selfie photograph.
Of that one photo you need
to know I re-took it 11 times
before I actually posted it. I
did my best to camouflage
the weight and inflammation
be holding my
breath, sucking everything in
and fluffing out my hair so big
that it looked like it was full of
secrets.
I realized then…gosh…my
body may never be the
same again.

believe how puffy I was.

Fibromyalgia pain is
different for everyone.
The pain I feel is
constant, intense and
sharp in my joints. It
effects mainly my hands,
neck and feet. Most of
the time it feels like
screwdrivers seem to
wedge in when I walk or
move around. What I
didn’t know then was
that was just the start,
really. What would make
it all worse was the cure
my well meaning doctors
had in store for me……

There is a lot of medicine
out there for Fibromyalgia.
I’m not sure which
experience was more
frustrating. The disease or
the side effects of “the
cures”.
I have to admit, the pain I
was in I could hid from most
people…it was the brain
fog and inflammation that
caused the most problems.

The brain fog had me
forgetting names almost
immediately. And at times,
things I was saying mid-
sentence. Most people
looked at me with concern
as I struggled to gather my
thoughts.
If that wasn’t bad enough

I developed insomnia and I
was often mistaken for
being pregnant with all
that swelling…sigh.
