How to Apply Face Makeup and Finishing Touches to Your Horse for Competition
1. How to Apply Face Makeup and
Finishing Touches to Your Horse
for Competition
2. I use a red black color cover on the face
because this color suits chestnuts and
horses of that covering. You get it and push
up in the sponge and work it into the
sponge a bit, so your sponge becomes
reasonably saturated. Then you work it to
the face. It’s very important with this sort of
stuff to blend it in.
3. You go down to the nose area and I blend
in with the clear face make up. If you have
the pots of it which we do because we have
a lot of horses, use a paintbrush. I actually
use that and you paint it on which does
quite a good job as well, if you've got tubs
of it, in other words if you have got quite a
few horses.
4.
5. You paint it on and then do the other side.
Make sure you go under the lip. Just put it
on so it’s there when you work it in, it works
in very well. Keep gently pushing your
tube, but don’t push hard or you'll get it all
over you. It’s a very, very good idea to
wear a pair of gloves because I have ruined
more than one set of clothes with this.
6. You just do the inside of the ear lightly with
this sponge and it will go on. Make sure the
ear is nice and clean and it matches the
rest of the make-up and is toning in. Then
we finish that part of it. So always make
sure you put the lid on because if the
sponge goes dry, it snaps off and comes
out the top.
7. Now, we’ll blend it in with a clear make up.
This is just a clear highlight and I get a
piece of chux or a soft cloth. I just wipe it
on. You just use that to blend the make up
in so that it doesn’t look as though you've
painted glasses on it. The same thing
again, make sure you get the nose and the
bottom lip. I am just going to use the
8. chestnut highlight to cover this scar on this
mare's leg. Dab a little bit in and you blend
it exactly the same. I’m now going to do her
feet with black hoof color. This is also on an
applicator brush. This has an advantage
because it’s very healthy for the horse’s
feet and also lets it breathe and to me that’s
a pretty important part.
