Instagram. We will show you how we automate our Instagram marketing to 
drive new customers into our pipeline.

First, let’s look at some of the recent statistics as of the September 2015. 
There are over 400 million active users, 40 billion photos shared, 3.5 billion 
daily likes, and 80 million photos posted per day.

What Do All Of These Statistics Mean For My Business? 
 
Here are some reasons why Instagram is such a great marketing tool for 
your business: 
 
● Instagram is one of the fastest growing social networks. You will have 
no problem finding new and existing customers on Instagram, even if 
your business is local.  
 
● Instagram’s engagement is 15X greater than Facebook’s 
engagement. There is more opportunity to create meaningful 
engagement on Instagram than Facebook.  
 
● Over 57% of Instagram users use the site on a daily basis. 
 
● 92% of businesses that post 5.5 times per day see an increase in 
their customer base. Instagram makes it easy to put your business in

Being Successful With Instagram Takes Work 
 
The conversation that most marketers aren’t having about Instagram 
success is that it takes a lot of ​consistent​ work.  
 
Consistency Is Critical 
 
If your Instagram approach is not consistent and you are not putting in the 
work each day, then you risk doing more harm to your brand than good. If 
however, you produce consistent engagement through likes, content, and 
comments, then you will be rewarded with organic leads.  
 
Instagramming As A Small Business 
 
Instagram is great for a large company that can either afford a dedicated 
staff or an agency. But if you’re a small business then it might be extremely 
hard to find the time to create consistent actions on Instagram.  
 
This is where our strategy can help you. Our strategy automates the 
majority of your work so you can reap the rewards of Instagram while still

The Results Using The Strategy  
 
First, let’s take a look at some of our results with an Instagram account that 
we recently built. 
 
This account has been running for less than 3 weeks. We built the account 
starting at zero with no posts, no users, & no content. 
 
In just three weeks our strategy generated 864 new followers, 580 
pageviews, ​and 268 new leads​, giving us a 47% conversion rate on

The Strategy  
 
What Are Your Goals? 
 
First, you have to determine what your goals are when using Instagram. In 
our case our goal was to drive leads into a mobile app that we could then 
engage directly with content, push notifications, and emails. Here are some 
possible goals: 
 
● Send users to a mobile website to complete a form or book a 
reservation. 
 
● Send users to a mobile website and capture their email address for 
an email marketing campaign.  
 
● Have potential leads call you for an appointment, reservation, or 
quote. 
 
● Engage users to establish a social presence online. 
 
● Get users to visit your store, restaurant, or physical location. 
 
The Account Summary: 
 
The summary section of your account should drive users towards your 
goal. A good summary consists of: 
 
● State your business/brand name 
● Your short elevator pitch 
● A call to action 
● A link to your mobile website, app, or phone number

Here is a working example for the Instagram account that we showed in the 
results section. 
 
 
 
● The business or brand name: ​Starbuckssecretapp 
 
● Short elevator pitch: ​Tired of the same old latte? Get our secret 
menu app to up your Starbucks game! 
 
● A call to action: ​We included a link. Notice that the user can click on 
our link to see our website/app. This is very important. If you don’t 
have a website then we suggest using a phone number or link to your 
Facebook account if you have one. 
 
Note about websites: 
Most of the Instagram traffic comes from iPhone & Android device. This means that 
users will be viewing your business on a small screen. If your business does not have a 
mobile website then it will be very hard for people to interact with your site from a 
phone.

Automating Engagement 
 
Now it’s time to get down to the fun stuff.  
 
How to save time by automating your Instagram marketing to drive 
more leads into your business.  
 
We built our account with software called Instagress. This software 
engages Instagram users for us.  
 
 
 
There is a small fee to use Instagress, but they do offer a free trial. We are not affiliated with Instagress. 
 
As you can see from the image above, the software is logged into an 
account and currently liking and unfollowing users on auto pilot. So right 
now as I type this document I’m currently generating leads for a brand 
without doing any of the work.  
 
Instagress comes with a complete dashboard that makes it easy to 
automate your Instagram engagement.

Here are some suggestions about how you can use Instagress to generate 
more leads for your business on Instagram.  
 
Follow Users: 
Following users helps to put your business on someone’s radar.  
 
For example, if I follow ten users then all ten users will see my profile. Five 
users might engage with my content and click my link. Then two users 
might convert into my email system, book a reservation, or request a quote.  
 
● Set Instagress to follow users in either in an industry specific hashtag 
or by location. If you’re a restaurant located Philadelphia only then 
you should target large food hashtags by location. Example ­ #food, 
#restaurant ­ Philadelphia

● Another option is that you can set Instagress to follow users who 
follow competitors in your industry. This is a great way to build a 
targeted audience.  
● Set Instagress to stop following users after you reach 200 followers.  
 
Unfollow Users: 
It’s important to unfollow users because you want your follow to following 
ratio to look proportional.  
 
● After you follow 200 users, you should set Instagress to unfollow 200 
users who have not followed you.  
● Instagress will automatically stop. 
 
Targeted Likes: 
There is nothing better than creating authentic engagement with potential 
customers in your industry. If you set Instagress to like content then the 
software will actually go out into Instagram and like pictures from users on 
your behalf. The result of this is that your brand’s Instagram account will 
appear in the user’s activity feed. 
 
● Try to get Instagress to like 200­1000 pictures per day in your 
industry. 
● Target users based on hashtag or competitors who also have an 
industry.  
 
Comments: 
Instagress can also leave custom comments on content. This is a great 
way to build deep engagement with potential customers on Instagram.  
 
● We recommend leaving generic comments. 
● Emojis such as a thumbs up and a smile face are also great 
comments to leave.

Your Instagram Content Strategy  
 
Engagement is just one part to having success with Instagram. Your 
content strategy is the second part.  
 
 
The content that you put on your Instagram consists of images and videos. 
Here are some content tips: 
 
● Make at least five postings per day. 
 
● 80% of your content should be value or entertainment based. 
 
● 20% of your content should be about your business.

● (This isn’t necessary but helps) ​When creating content put your 
domain name, business name, or phone number in the lower right 
hand corner of each image as an overlay. There are a lot of 
Instagram users who will actually visit your website or business after 
seeing it in an image.   
 
Automating Your Posting: 
 
Yes, you can even automate the process of posting content.
