Star Wars vs.Star Trek Throughout the past two decades, two science fiction cult classics have
rivaled each other. Both have strong followings of loyal fans that live and breath these classic tales.
Lunch boxes, t–shirts, masks, bed sheets, and figurines are only some of the merchandising
offspring of these two epic films. Star Wars and Star Trek certainly share many similarities being the

Trek has pathetic tasers which look like garage door openers, but can be set to stun to preserve
life instead of vaporizing it. The Star Trek vessels also posses photon torpedoes, which seem to
always be deflected by the enemies shields. Star Trek ships posses warp speed, which is a common
caracteristic with Star Wars' lightspeed. The starships are very attractive and streamlined, but hold a
more realistic and practical appearance. Star Trek's technology resembles the most likely future of
technology, which adds to the realism of
Star Trek. Next, Star Wars and Star Trek have similarities and differences in characters. Star
Wars tends to have very primitivealien life, for example the wookies and ewoks. Droids are nearly
human with minor programming restrictions, but they do resemble tin cans and gold foil
mannequins. The leaders are headstrong rebels who are very young, inexperienced, and
emotional. Star Wars seems to appeal to a younger crowd. Star Treks characters bear many
similarities as well as differences. Star Trek's alien life can vary from very primitive to far superior
life forms, for example moving slime to mind controlling midgets. Droids are very human in
emotions and in appearance.
Star Trek's leaders are over–acheiving pioneers who are middle aged, highly experienced, and
unwilling to compromise a mission based on their emotions. The general background for both Star
Wars and Star Trek are very

Star Wars Satire
Recently, we, as a galaxy, celebrated the 40th Anniversary of the first "Star Wars" movie. Since that
fateful premiere in May 1977, the franchise has produced about a dozen films, numerous TV
shows, thousands of spoofs and parodies, and millions of devoted fans. Here's an overview of the
series.
After fan fictions about the Old Republic and book series such as "Jedi Academy," chronologically,
"The Phantom Menace" is the first movie in the franchise, which came out in 1999. It's an
introduction to the Force, to the "Star Wars" universe, and to Anakin Skywalker, a major character in
the saga. It's about how the Jedi, along with the Galactic Republic, help the gorgeous planet of
Naboo defend themselves against the Trade Federation.
The next film,

Few great filmmakers can write and oversee the production of a film that will be relevant and
built upon for the next 4 decades. Even fewer filmmakers can be regarded as the person who
changed cinema forever. George Lucas did all of this in 1977 with the release of the film he created,
originally called, "The Star Wars." He had this idea after his first feature length film "American
Graffiti" in 1973. This film became popular and he later pitched his idea for a space opera to the
production company. They agreed and Star Wars was born. In the beginning, it was meant to be
one film, which would entail all of the story for the three films in the original trilogy, A New Hope,
Empire Strikes Back, and Return of the Jedi. Due to budget...show more content...
The saga's brand consistently finds a place in the top five licensed toy brands each year,
according to NPD Group (Ames)." This shows that the franchise has grown into one of the largest
players in toy sales as well as revenue product. Other toy brands ranking high up include Lego,
Nerf, Nintendo, Mattel, Hasbro, and Kenner. It is evident that when a single franchise, Star Wars,
is available in every single one of these big name players in some form, that the franchise holds
one of the largest impacts on society. The revenue coming from these sources is immense, usually
averaging out to more than the original ticket sales for the films. These toys and games, intended
for children, are even still relevant to those who are now adults because Star Wars is comparable
to a legacy. It is passed down from generation to generation and the ones passing down the
franchise are having revitalizing feelings from reminiscing upon the past. One of the main reasons
many older fans are still following the later expansions of the film collections is because of the
nostalgic experience. Star Wars can now be found anywhere today. The American Marketing
Association elaborates upon this point in 2016 by stating that, "Today, companies like Campbell's
and CoverGirl are harnessing Star Wars' marketing power, creating Star Wars
–themed everything,

Star Wars and Mythology Close connections can be made from Greek Mythology into pop culture,
especially into fictional stories such as Star Wars. Introduced to the world in 1977, Star Wars was a
cultural phenomenon that took the whole world by storm. It broke new ground in cinematic
storytelling, visual effects, and what a director could do with a film, paving the way for many other
great films to come. The world of Star Wars is also rich with history and lore, and a lot of that can be
connected to Greek Mythology. Two main characters in Star Wars are Luke and Leia Skywalker,
twins who are separated at birth but eventually reunite on their journeys to defeat the dark side.

In Star Wars, the same happens to Luke Skywalker, though not in exactly the same way. He is
given his father?s lightsaber, the weapon of a Jedi by a former friend of his father?s, Ben. Ben
tells Luke as he gives him the weapon: ?I have something here for you. Your father wanted you to
have this when you were old enough, but your uncle wouldn't allow it. He feared you might follow
old Obi–Wan on some damn fool idealistic crusade like your father did. Your father's lightsaber.
This is the weapon of a Jedi Knight. Not as clumsy or random as a blaster; an elegant weapon for
a more civilized age. For over a thousand generations, the Jedi Knights were the guardians of peace
and justice in the Old Republic. Before the dark times... before the Empire.? (Star Wars). As Ben is
giving Luke the lightsaber, he explains its extraordinary qualities and purpose, therefore passing its
extraordinary meaning and symbolism down to a new generation, similar to Artemis and Apollo.
These weapons used by these characters would go on to aide them greatly in their journeys, as Luke
used his lightsaber as a tool to defeat his enemies,

From flying across the galaxy to massive space battles and interactions between multiple species
of aliens and other worldly creatures. just about everyone nowa something about George Lucas's
famous space sage Star Wars and has at least watched a few of the movies and so,e people may
even think they know everything about this movie and it's creators but most likely there are things
you do not know about these famous and successful movies so today I am going to talk about six
fun facts that you most likely do not know about Star Wars.

While observing the set Lucas says that the set is so much better than his set and the movie will
make much more money than Star Wars to Lucas's dismay. Lucas also said "Oh my God, your
movie is better than Star Wars! This is gonna be the biggest hit of all time. I can't believe this set"
Lucas said he would trade some earnings with Spielberg. They would each trade 2.5 percent of
their movies earnings to each other. Then Spielberg agreed to the bet but actually Star Wars made
$775 million at the box office and close encounters only making $304 million. Though Lucas did
not lose much money since after the movie he was still a billionaire so there was not a giant hole
in his wallet after the bet which surprised Lucas. He was very surprised that Star Wars got almost
double the earning of close encounters and now had so much money.
4. Han Solo died in the original script return of the Jedi In one of the original scripts of return of
the Jedi has Luke being sure that Darth Vader was an evil bad guy and Han Solo dying in a heroic
raid to the Death Star. Though the surprising thing is that Harrison ford the actor who played Han
Solo most likely would have been fine with this since Ford was almost all of the time very snippy
about Lucas's script choices and was always making constant criticisms which most likely annoyed

Star Wars: The Force Awakens And Carol
According to data researcher Stephen Follows, the number of films being released in the UK has
almost doubled between 2000 and 2016 with over 800 new releases last year for the public to try
and choose from when going to the cinema. Thanks to technological advancements making it
cheaper and easier for films to be distributed, it doesn't seem like this number will be diminishing
anytime soon. As a result, marketing campaigns must use all mediums available to them to bring their
film to the attention of the public. This essay will highlight the marketing strategies used by two
films from 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Carol. To what extent was the marketing of
these films successful and were they able to draw viewers to the cinema,...show more content...
Given the differences in the films types and target audiences, how can they use the same marketing
mediums to reach the public?
To begin with we shall take a closer look at the trailers for the films. There are two types of
trailers often applied to films, the teaser trailer and the official trailer. A teaser trailer is normally
released whilst the film making process is still happening and shows clips without giving away
any of the narrative. The official trailer, prelude to the film's release, should succeed in giving the
audience a better understanding of the tone of the film. Finola Kerrigan in her book Film
Marketing states "[t]railers are used in order to provide the potential customer with a taste of the
film" (2009: 141), but unfortunately these days some trailers give away the entire narrative
instead of just the taste they are supposed to. Star Wars: The Force Awakens released two teaser
trailers and one official trailer prior to its release. None of these trailers give away the films
narrative. The three trailers all seem to follow a similar pattern, starting of by showing the new
faces that are the main protagonists of the film before moving on to showing the people and props
that we associate with Star Wars as a franchise. This is the benefit that Star Wars has, because it is
