Editor's Notes
Bernie Goldbach presented an active lecture to a group of 43 third level educators attending the annual e-learning summer school in the Bolton Street campus of the Dublin Institute of Technology. This presentation complements classroom work in the Limerick Institute of Technology and draws heavily from the deep research of Catherine Cronin, an international expert in digital literacies.
This presentation involves the use of Office Sway, a cloud-based program currently used by most of the third level institutions in Ireland. Microsoft-Ireland assisted the initial phase of this project by offering a preview of Sway for third level review in early 2015.

This active presentatipn by Bernie Goldbach is part of an hour-long focus on personal online profiles. It borrows heavily from research by Catherine Cronin in NUI Galway. The event used the #elss16 hashtag when running in June 2016. More about #elss16 at https://dublinelss16.wordpress.com/about/

O365 operates with higher levels of machine learning and discoverability.
Sway is part of an Office 365 (O365) subscription used on the majority of Ireland’s third level campuses.
This active presentation has a global reach already because of its accompanying Twitterstream and shareable content.
Digital Literacies and Digital Pedadogy provide important foundation elements of this presentation.

We can follow relevant conversations and connect with communities of practice by engaging with networked publics.
We should know how to manage and detect these footprints.
Third Space in a classroom is where students' cultural capital merges with content of the curriculum as students support their arguments in literature discussions.
Skerrett associates Third Space with a multiliteracies approach. Skerrett, Allison (January 2010). "Lolita, Facebook, and the Third Space of Literacy Teacher Education". Education studies 46 (1): 67–84.
