The PA writing rubric evaluates student writing based on 5 criteria: focus, content, organization, style, and conventions. For each criterion, the rubric provides descriptors to assess writing at 4 levels of mastery from exemplary to minimal. The highest level 4 writing will have a sharp focus on a single topic with substantial supporting content and sophisticated organization, style, and grammar. A level 1 paper will demonstrate minimal control and understanding across all 5 criteria.
