Area Ridef is a non-profit organization of professionals in the renewable energy,
energy efficiency and sustainability sectors (all alumni of the postgraduate Master
course “Ridef” of Politecnico di Milano and IUVAT, Venice ).
The Association is active in the promotion of renewable energies and sustainability
with conferences, workshops, professional courses and training activities some of
which are organized in collaboration with the Politecnico di Milano.
All members participate in the Association’s activities with their time, network and
professional experience on a voluntary basis.

Milan Sharing city: Action plan
To encourage the creation and strengthening of
economic forms of collaboration and sharing,
Milan Municipality will:
● Map and systematize the most relevant experiences for the
Milanese area and encourage the communication of such
Initiatives;
● Promote public debate, training and information on sharing
economy and on the culture of cooperation in order to achieve a
critical mass of users;
● Promote the analysis and monitoring of the effects and
impacts of new forms of innovation and experimentation of sharing,
investigating the conditions in which collaboration can be
implemented, in order to better understand the phenomenon and
create forms of regulation;
● Promote a system of recognition and validation of the quality
amongst the sharing economy platforms, with few clear rules;
● Promote research on the economic, environmental and social
impacts of the sharing economy;

FabriQ is a business incubator for the transformation of ideas into concrete
projects intended to host young entrepreneurial start-ups whose activities
have a social impact.

• 2nd call on 3 themes:

➔ 85 applications received, 7 winners (May 2015) with a grant up to
20,000 Euros.

32. Milan Sharing city: Civic Crowdfunding
The City of Milan is the first municipality in Italy that promotes a crowdfunding planorm
dedicated to projects with high social impact in the city. This initiative is part of a
collaboration between two different departments of the Municipality
Objectives:
● To experiment innovative ways to finance projects of public interest;
● To promote the pooling of public and private resources
● to support projects with high social impact on the Milan’s territory, with
possible repercussions on the metropolitan dimension;
● To promote the active participation of citizens in Municipality’s decisions,
through:
• transparency/openness of the process of selection and fundraising
• the accessible information on the development of the projects, and their
impact on the community

1 Public lighting network
The public lighting network is the best enablers for Smart City
services since it reaches the entire metropolitan area with a great
capillarity
2 LED Lighting
The lighting part of street lamps were switched to LED (Light
Emitting Diode) technology, bringing savings due to a better
energetic / environmental efficiency
3 Smart Lamppost
By adding IoT devices (sensors, concentrators etc.) and other equipment
to lampposts, they can become main nodes in the smart services
network
