base of the spine in the vicinity of the
coccygeal plexus (coccyx) beneath the sacrum
• Element: Earth
• Color: Red
• Body Parts: Sexual / Reproductive organs,
Vagina, Perineum, Anus, Nose, Hamstrings,
Calves, Feet
• Endocrine Glands: Adrenal Gland

• Symbol: four petal lotus flower
• The Bija sound for Mooladhara is Laṃ.
• Main qualities: stability, wish, surviving,
self-preservation, security, grounding
• Sensory function: smelling
• Resides/sleeps the kundalini shakti

• Excessive talking
• Physical/emotional traumas

Psychological problems by mooladhara chakra
disturbances
• Nervousness and anxiety
• May not have developed a strong
identity
• May have fear without any cause
• May not trust to others
• Can’t feel good in changeable conditions
• Have not discovered their life purpose
• If they are too yin (feminine) they may
be ungrounded
• If they are too yang (masculine) - too
much attachment to material things, too
much self-indulgence - selfishness

Over-Active Mooladhara Chakra
• Anger, annoyance and even aggression towards people
• Greediness and controlling others and becoming belligerent to those
who challenge your “authority”
• Become dependent on the security from other people, your job or
specific habits and because of this you will have very rigid boundaries
• Very materialistic or impulsive and think about your value or self-
worth exists in having such things
• Problems with an over-active sex drive may arise due to the over-
activeness of the root chakra

Under-Active Root Chakra:
• Feeling of disconnection from the world around you, including from
your body.
• Feeling of disorganisation
• Lack focus and discipline
• Become afraid, anxious or restless in your daily interactions.
• Experience a lack of stamina, depression or desire to do or to want
anything out of life
• Trouble obtaining financial security

How to balance mooladhara chakra
General advices
• Make new connections. (This chakra is fed by getting involved in life. If you
are not comfortable with the family you came from then create new
families of friends, animals, organizations, support groups, etc. to balance
this chakra and make it stronger. Look for evidence that your world is
secure)
• Establish healthy routines
• Drink lots of “FRESH” water, eat healthy foods that are as natural as
possible; eat, sleep, exercise, and work at regular times.
• Go to a park and walk barefoot through the grass;
• Hiking in the mountains, or just being around large rocks and stones is very
grounding. The mooladhara’s element is Earth.
• Sitting on the grass, under a tree is an ideal spot to sit and allow yourself
to absorb these earthly energies!

How to balance mooladhara chakra
General advices
• Avoid cold, dry food – crackers, popcorn, toast, chips, iced drinks, ice cream in a
big amount
• Avoid eccessive pungent, bitter, astringent tastes
• Try to wake up before sunrise
• Take a glass of warm water
• Put sesame oil massage then take shower or bath
• Try to take food in calm athmosphere without looking TV, computer or speaking
phone. Eat regularely.
• Don‘t remove breakfast from your day schedule, eats more morning time as at
evening time. Dinner is preferable 3-4 hours before sleep
• To balance and calm yourself try to itegrate yogic practice in your daily life
• Use ayurvedic or naturopathic herbs

downward. When the muscular
pressure comes in this place
apana vayu stops to go downward
& start to increase the prana flow
to this chakra;
Press of perineal muscles, coccyx,
musculus coccygeous;
This chakra start to activate the
sleeping part or damaging cells of
our reproductive, urogenital
system, kidney, knee, legs
Breathing
Opposite breathing or basal breathing, inhale- squize your
perineum, exhale- relax. Duration – 10-20 breath.

(palm tree pose)

Energy flow is going up and down,
when we hold the breath upside on
the toes then you feel that prana
going up, means energy comes in
balance in this chakra
Movement of perineal muscles,
coccyx, musculus coccygeous
synchronising with breath makes
stronger these muscles and related
organs

relax. Duration – 10-20 breath.

(tree pose)

Prana is going to increase in
mooladhara region & the flow goes to
related organs and they come in
balance; it
stops damaging of cells
Heel pressure on perineum and
sole on hamistring, stops the blood
flow and starts to flow of the energy
that impovers function of urogenital
system

Opposite breathing or basal breathing, inhale- squize your perineum, exhale-
relax. Duration – 10-20 breath.

Utkatasana
(chair pose )

Prana stops to go downward, it starts to
activate the sleeping part of earth
element; earth element going to be more
fertile
Pressure comes on feet, calf muscules,
hamstring muscules, blood flow moves
upward synchronising with breath
Breathing
Opposite breathing or basal breathing, inhale- squize your perineum, exhale- relax.
Duration – 10-20 breath.

mooladhara chakra, it makes
physical body full of power
Pressure comes on feet, calf
muscles, hamistring muscles blood
flow moves upward synchronising
with breath, it incerease the
digestion & malabsorbition

Parvatasana
(mountain pose)

Prana flow goes toward the
tailbone, this pressure of prana
starts the healing and balancing this
chakra
Strech comes on hamstring,
muscles, calf muscles; it starts
opposite blood flow supply (from
feet to thigh)
Breathing
Opposite breathing or basal breathing, inhale- squize your perineum,
exhale- relax. Duration – 10-20 breath.

Ashwasanchalanasana
(Horse running pose)

Because of the stretch of perineum
near the tailbone prana starts to
accumulate in this chakra, creates
healing effect and make balance
stretch with pressure comes on the
perineum and normal stretch
comes on hamstring and leg
muscles, it increases the blood flow
towards the perineum

Poorna-Titaliasana
(butterfly pose)

Prana flow increases in area of this
chakra, it‘s balances this region,
starts to rejuvenate related organs
and activates the sushumna nadi (3-
rd channel) where prana can easily
enter
Tightness of the thigh muscle is the
symbol of blokage in apana vayu, by
the practice of movement of hip
joints, you will relax them and
prepares you to perform easily
meditative pose (padmasana)

Janushirasana
(Head to knee pose)

It opens the mouth of
sushumna, that prana can
enter there in oder to activate
and balance this chakra
Loose the tension of
hamstring muscles & increase
the flexibility in the hip joints.
It increases also the function
of organs of the entire
abdomen, urogenital system,
adrenal gland. It provides
more blood circulation to the
muscles of the spine

(Seated Forward Bend)

(Wind-Relieving Pose)

Prana activates both nadis (Ida
& Pingala) means it activates
the sushumna & prana enters
there for balancing this chakra
The movement of this asana
massages abdomen by the
thigh and also the perineum,
pelvic muscles, bowel &
reproductive organs. What
helps to release the menstrual
problem, gas accumulation,
impotence.

Bhujangasana
(Cobra pose)

The stretch of legs and
vertebral column with the
breathing pattern make
balance & accumulate the
prana in this chakra to
improve the rejuvenation of
organs of this region
First effect goes on respiratory
organs, it increase depth and
longetivity of the breath. It
removes spinal tension and
pain, relaxes your back. It
removes constipation,
stimulates appetite.

(Hare pose)

posture sushumna nadi get
opened that provides flow of
prana to mooladhara chakra

back, releases the disc

you will reach special effect. The heel
pressure on the perineum stimulates
producing of energy of mooladhara
chakra that goes up through spinal

If you are not comfortable with the family you came from then create new families of friends, animals, organizations, support groups, etc. to balance this chakra and make it stronger. Look for evidence that your world is secure) • Establish healthy routines • Drink lots of “FRESH” water, eat healthy foods that are as natural as possible; eat, sleep, exercise, and work at regular times. • Go to a park and walk barefoot through the grass; • Hiking in the mountains, or just being around large rocks and stones is very grounding. The mooladhara’s element is Earth. • Sitting on the grass, under a tree is an ideal spot to sit and allow yourself to absorb these earthly energies! How to balance mooladhara chakra General advices • Avoid cold, dry food – crackers, popcorn, toast, chips, iced drinks, ice cream in a big amount • Avoid eccessive pungent, bitter, astringent tastes • Try to wake up before sunrise • Take a glass of warm water • Put sesame oil massage then take shower or bath • Try to take food in calm athmosphere without looking TV, computer or speaking phone. Eat regularely. • Don‘t remove breakfast from your day schedule, eats more morning time as at evening time.
