•Acceptance by large number of people makes fashion
successful.
•The degree of acceptance also provides clues to fashion
trends for coming season.

                Subhashree Sarkar, FDDI-NOIDA
4) Taste

Trend

 A trend is characterized by a building
awareness of this new look and an
    accelerating demand among consumers.
 Most fashion trends stick around for at least a
    year
 Length of a trend depends on which position
of the fashion cycle you are looking at.

                  Subhashree Sarkar, FDDI-NOIDA
Evolution of a Trend
 The three stages are:
 Fringe: when the innovation arises
 Trendy: awareness grows and early adopters join in.
 Mainstream: when the more conservative community also
        joins in
 After the mainstream a trend might meet the
    following fates:
     Micro trend/ Re invention/ Counter trend/ Backlash
 Example Low rise jeans started in 2000
