The Problem……. • 3+ billion with out access to basic waste management services (D-Waste) • Upto 60% of urban waste is uncollected in many developing world countries (World Bank) • Africa-Americans are 79% more likely to live in proximity to industrial pollution (DS.org) • 50% of North American Native Communities live in an area with an uncontrolled dump site (DS.org) • 80% of the children in the city of Guiyu in China, exhibit respiratory distress, the significant e-waste recycling that occurs in that city is thought to be a key causal factor (PRB) • That Zero Waste is still seen as aspirational © 2014 WasteAid, watermark picture courtesy of PCF

Intended Projects (2014/2015) • Twinning of Municipal Waste Departments • NGO and Waste Conference, London (8th October – Broadcast) • Environmental Radio Station (Kenya) 10 million • Environmental Information hub (Kenya) which supports plastic recycling businesses and other lifestyle projects – social enterprise • Ganges Clean up and Community Support – Waste Warriors • Distributing education materials to local networks (in partnership) • Waste Picker work in Lagos • Urban Poverty project Lagos • Development of WasteAid Associate Scheme • Free online database of Waste and Development projects around the world • Livelihood project in Kisumu Kenya • Development of Waste Plastic Market in Kenya • Telling the story via film © 2014 WasteAid, watermark picture courtesy of PCF
