Exposure Trip Report
1. Narrative Report about Educational Exposure Trip
I. Assembly Time
The assembly time was 3:00 am in the morning at Heavens Park beside
the University. The College of Business and Accountancy students were
gathered early in the said place since everyone wouldn’t want to be left
behind. The total of the buses used for this educational exposure trip were
twelve buses in care of Harranah Tours Corp. which also have tourist guides
assigned each buses, and the tourist guide assigned to us was Ms. Maria
Gracita Colandrino which she called herself as Chichay. Likewise, each of
those buses has designated professors from the University of Perpetual Help
to guide every student in the bus, and the professor assigned to us was no
other than Mrs. Francisca Argana. Moreover, the bus number 1 was
consisted of third year Marketing students section C3S. The seating
arrangement was organized so the bus number one leaved the place in
peace and order.
II. Breakfast: Chowking in UN Ave.
After few hours of traveling, we ate our breakfast at Chowking in UN Ave.
somewhere in Manila. The food prepared was one of the Chowking's
breakfast meals which is the longganisa with egg and fried rice also known as
longsilog. It tasted very delicious like it was cooked from your own home.
Meanwhile, the students finished their meals and continued to travel going to
their destinations.
III. Nature's Spring: Bulacan
During the travel going to the North, our tour guide Ate Chichay started to
do her job by giving some trivia regarding the different landmarks we have
passed through. She was funny, lively and very easy going, actually she was
joking around all the time especially with the boys. She had begun to play a
game with picking a small paper inside the container. For instance, someone
picked a paper then read the questions and answered it, Ate Chichay would
ask someone the answer and then she would say the trivia correctly. She had
trivia about the biggest mall is Sm North, longest bridge which is the
2. Candayabaya Dock and so on. After the game, she let us took some rest and
sleep.
After the long hours of travel, we finally reached our first destination,
Nature Spring. We were guided by someone from Nature Spring in our travel
inside their plant. We first headed to where the containers were made, and
found out that they actually came from a tiny piece of plastic and expands only
to become a larger container through heat. We saw how the disposable water
containers called bubble are made and filled in. We then went to the area
where they store the water. There’s a specific tank for distilled water, mineral
water, water for cleaning and maintenance, and untreated water. After which,
we headed where bottled water are made, and saw that machines do the
actual filling of the water.
We learned and we were able to witness how the plastic bottles in
different sizes were made, formed, thoroughly cleansed and labeled. We also
toured the whole vicinity including the area where the purified water is bottled,
sealed and packed in boxes.
IV. ARDI Healthcare Center: Pampanga
Our next destination was Pampanga. We knew later on that we were
divided into two groups: us heading to Philippine Academy Aviation Training
and the other in ARDI Healthcare Center. Our bus was assigned at ARDI
Healthcare Center. ARDI Healthcare Center’s primary thrust is to help prevent
illness and disease by providing precise outpatient clinical diagnostics, and
ambulatory surgical services in a variety of fields and specializations. All
without lengthy hospital stays or admission.
Each one of us was dismayed because we love yto more the PAAT since
hospital is nothing new to us Perpetual students. Sadly, we had no choice but
to visit the said place for the sake of the money we paid for the trip. The
personnel of Ardi told us that the healthcare was not a hospital but a clinic
instead. They does not offer confinement but out-patient only to provide
affordable, accessible, quality multidisciplinary healthcare services.
V. Lunch: Everybody's Café
We left the hospital around past one in the afternoon, and our bus headed
again to Clark, Pampanga for lunch in Everybody's Cafe. At first sight, my
3. impression about it was so classic. The interior design was traditional Filipino-
style Restaurant. The café was crowded with students; everyone was so
famished due to the long trip. Meanwhile, the long queue has begun; the
tables and chairs were all occupied that’s why the students in queue had to
wait for their turn after the previous groups had finished their lunch. For this
reason, the service crew of the café didn’t able to serve the students wisely,
so it ended up disorganized, indeed. The lineup of students in queue was not
in order, there are only few utensils such as the plates, spoons, and forks are
not yet washed that’s why the remaining hungry students had to wait again
before they are served. The tables were so messy so students had to clean
up the tables by themselves because there were no service crews lingering at
the moment. However, the food prepared were pork dishes and lumpia with
little caramel snack and drinks. As the result based on my observation, the
students were really disappointed on the poor service and not-so-delicious
meals of the Everybody's Café. Afterwards, we left the restaurant and
continued to our next destination.
VI. Creamline Ice Cream Factory
The students arrived at Creamline after an hour. The students were
excited to visit the said ice cream plant, who wouldn’t want to see how ice
cream how ice cream are made after all. Likewise, ice cream is the best
answer to quench the summer heat that day. Cream line offers a wide variety
of ice cream flavors at affordable prices. More popularly known as sorbeteros,
these vendors sell Creamline's Choco Bulilits, Cream Cones, Cream Bars,
and other ice cream products.
We entered the Creamline Plant drooling and eager to see how it is
processed. The head Quality Control person explained how they prepare ice
creams from their machineries up to the packaging: (1) Mixing, all ingredients
are blended together to produce the ice cream mix, (2) Homogenization,
breaks down or reduces the size of the fat globules (3) Pasteurization, the
biological control point on the system to destroy any pathogenic bacteria (4)
the ice cream mix is aged for at least 4 hours to improve the whipping
qualities of the mix, body and texture of the ice cream (5) Slush Freezing,
theice cream mix passes through the continuos freezer to produce soft ice
cream (6) Filling, the soft ice cream is then filled into cones, cups, sticks, and
bulks container using different filling machines like the Technostick and Roary
filler, (7) Blast freezing, the ice cream passes through the blast freezer at -
30C to -40C to harden the ice cream.
4. The students were amazed by those information so they tried to joke
around begging for ice creams. Fortunately, the personnel approved it and
promised to give each one of us a chocolate ice cream. The discussion only
took a minute that the travel time has consumed more than the time of visiting
the plant. Everyone has headed back to their designated buses and waited
for their own ice creams. No doubt that the ice cream was so delicious. The
bus air conditioning was so hot so the students really felt good after eating ice
cream. Afterwards, we continued our journey going to our final destination
which is the Nayong Pilipino.
VII. Nayong Pilipino
It only took a few minutes when we arrived at Nayong Pilipino. This was
the last educational tour we went through. Nayong Pilipino is a theme park
which showcases Philippine’s culture, history and popular attractions. This
theme park has several structures depicting the Spanish classic era. The
Spanish occupation which lasted for 300 years left many traces of their
culture and arts in the Philippines. These are clearly displayed in old
building/houses styles, traditions, attires, beliefs etc. A short walk in this plaza
lets you escape the modern world and enjoy a journey back in time.
We went on a hot, humid day. Walking around without a hat or umbrella is
guaranteed to give one a migraine. Luckily, we came prepared. But there
were not enough markers and signs to tell the story, history and culture of the
different regions represented here. I am not sure if there is a schedule of
guided tours. I wish there is. And I hope they have good guides. As for the
locals, I recommend Nayong Pilipino as a must-experience for grade
schoolers to introduce them to the beauty, history and geography of our
country.
VIII. Dinner: Shangrila Finest Chinese Cuisine Restaurant
After the long day of traveling all the time, we headed back to our
designated bus going our way to grab some dinner in Quezon City before we
totally went home. Finally, we arrived at Shangrila Finest Chinese Cuisine
Restaurant at exactly dinner time. Meanwhile, we selected a table at second
floor since the ground floor were occupied already by some students. The
dinner were served right away: soup, lumpia, fried rice, patatim which is their
best known dish, meatballs and lastly the emapanada.
5. Shangri-La boasts of wonderful varieties of Chinese food prepared by
highly-trained chefs and able kitchen staff. In fact, it is the mouth watering
quality of its offering that first attracted a steady flow of clients when the
restaurant opened. The food is definitely authentic chinese cooking. So if you
are fond of chinese food, this will be one of the spots you would want to
check out. Therefore the sumptuous Chinese cuisine and the impeccable
service are still the qualities one can expect and experience once
there. Afterwards, we headed back to Laguna and went home safe and
sound.
