3. INTRODUCTION
Hospitalization is an important resource in adult's
care, and it is part of the health care network.
Hospitalizations, especially if repeated and
prolonged, may produce negative consequences to
patients’ health, such as decreased functional
disability, lower quality of life.

4. DEFINITION
The hospitalizing of a patient, the condition of being
hospitalized, or the period a patient stays in
hospital.
